ACTING OUT EXCUSES
In "Acting Out Excuses" the Grade 8 class researched the topic of excuses (using the project resources), brainstormed for excuses to use as the basis of a skit, chose their groups, wrote the skit, practiced the skits, gave feedback to each other about their skits and performed the skits at a middle school assembly. Each skit had two parts. In part one, the students acted out a scenario where excuses prevented the characters from taking responsibility for their actions. In part two, they re-created the scenario to show how the characters didn't resort to excuses. These skits were a fine way to communicate the message of "busting excuses" to their middle school peers.
