Here is a speech I wrote for the U.N. meeting in May, 2002.

Dear Delegates of the United Nations. I am Nick and I am representing my country of Canada. I want to discuss matters that have come to my attention, in some countries. Famine still exists, many people are homeless, and nothing so far has been done to fix these problems. So far, I have seen that what is mostly on the agenda is improving the economy of larger economic powers; and if any money goes to third world countries, it never seems to go to the people.

I have seen that the only sources of money that goes to the people of these countries are non-profit charity organisations such as UNICEF, or other charities. The largest problem is that the leaders of larger countries are not even giving any effort into helping these countries with economic issues. If nothing is done to help to feed and protect these people, then the population of these countries will decrease substantially and in turn, their economy will suffer badly. If that happens, then these countries will need more and more economic support, increasing the already large political debts that already cause large enough problems.

In some countries, it is unacceptable- people are starving, thirsty, and with no place to live. These people are being deprived of their most basic rights; and that is something that I personally think is unacceptable- for any country. I have seen that in some places, child abuse is becoming just a normal thing for people to do; this is unacceptable for so many reasons; if things like this continue, then these countries will become dark, empty, holes devoid of any life; so uninhabitable that people will use it to describe the worst places that anyone can think of.

These places need more money to make the lifestyle of these people as comfortable as possible; this can only be achieved by the co-operation of other countries. If these other countries do not pitch in and help, the starving people in these countries will die; and furthermore, many people do not know, much less care; that people are dying in these horrible situations and it is just considered normal? How can people with so much can not be able to at least lend a hand to help those other people that need so little?

We as a collective group should donate more money and make sure it gets to the people that desperately need it.
