Honorary Delegates of the United Nations, I am a child. And here I am here to represent my people. My name is Joe Doe from Canada. And here I am to speak to you about childrens rights. I have learned many things that children should have according to the 41 things in the 1989 convention. Ill tell you how well those things you said are happening all over the world.
You have a correct definition but there are many places where somebody under eighteen
isnt treated like a child but are working like adults to support their families
because they otherwise wouldnt survive.
Children are being treated according to skin colour and religion. Schools and education works differently for different people. (Example: Blacks in Africa are educated poorly or not at all. Their entire lives depend on their education yet they receive hardly any. Their supplies are limited; the majority of their classrooms are in sheds and this minor education costs more than some peoples salary. Whites in Africa are in large well-built building with more than their share of supplies and minimal costs of education and heightened education.)
I dont think governments are bringing in new laws to help bring up children laws.
They are not bringing in new laws and many rights of ours arent being met. Our
education is low and, many of us are working in the markets to support our families. There
countries which do bring in new laws but even more that dont.
In number law #6 you say you that governments should try to get you a home if youre homeless, and should help your survival and development. I highly doubt that this has taken an affect on the world. Once more, there are countries that do take that into thought and action but there are countries where children live on streets, where children have no food and are dying every moment. Countries where their water is so dirty you cant see through it, countries where children die at birth or before birth at every moment. It is happening, and it is happening now. This is something that must be stopped now.
Every child has a right to a name and every child does have a name. You say you are Jake Johnson if you are Jake Johnson. You dont say you are 610958 from Sector G26. This right is happening and everybody bears a name. And everybody has an identity.
There is a problem with children having the right express themselves and their views. Children should be able to give their views on things when the courts decide which parent a child should be with if the parents are going through a divorce. Yet many courts are deciding child custody rights when the childs views are ignored or not heard.
I dont think children have the right to fully say what they
feel. Many school children would be suspended from education if they shared their views on
certain topics. Although, if they were crude topics then itd be best if the child
didnt say anything.
You say that every child should get proper medical attention, and shouldnt be in poor health because they cant get into a medical facility. There are many children in horrible health conditions, starving, uneducated, dying.
Kids are getting too much access to illegal drugs and it
shouldnt be happening. Many young people are having access to such drugs as acid,
crack, smack, cocaine, marijuana etc. and this should not be allowed to be happening
anywhere.
These are some of the issues facing young kids today and these
are problems that must be resolved soon. I think that these problems should be resolved
now or otherwise they are to cause many problems in the future that are far more serious
than the ones today. I ask you nicely to do what is best and take serious action. Thank
you for listening to what I have to say.
