in Chinatown

While visiting the Chinese Cultural Center in Calgary, we were able to view a number of artifacts that gave us a sense of the Chinese culture. We were especially interested in the examples of traditional Chinese clothing and had a chance to take a close look at the fabrics and exquisite designs. A traditional living room suite carved out of rosewood and inlaid with marble showed us the fine craftsmanship of the Chinese people.

All Foods Have Their Purposes  

  Foods include a whole fish, to represent togetherness and abundance, and  chicken for prosperity. The chicken must be presented with a head, tail and feet to symbolize completeness. Noodles should be uncut, as they represent long life.
